[26 Oct 2008|10:36pm]

so, i haven't been following the setlists on this current tour. when did the guys start doing "It's The End Of The World..." again? i mean, last i heard, Michael was saying that after NYC in 2004 they weren't going to do it again for an indefinite amount of time. well, i guess that time's up now...was anyone here at the concert when they first played it again? did Michael explain why they started again? if so, what did he say?

i was at the NYC concert this summer, and i was hoping they'd do it then as a sort of coming-full-circle type of thing, but they didn't.

Dallas Concert 10/24/08 [26 Oct 2008|12:46pm]

Friday's concert was really great. It was at a smaller indoor theater which holds up to 6350 people, so it was more intimate compared to the larger venues they had previously played in. The "Old 97s" opened up for them and they put on a good show. I was unfamiliar with their music but enjoyed some of their songs. They were the only opening act and it wasn't a terribly long set.

I have 2 extra tickets for Friday's Dallas show! [22 Oct 2008|05:22pm]

Hey guys,
So a couple of friends of mine flaked out at the last minute and I ended up with 2 extra tickets to the Dallas show on Oct 24 (this Friday!).

As I would prefer not to be out $260, I'm asking if anyone would be interested in buying them from me? I'm only asking what I paid for them: $130 each (including fees and such).

Here's the info:
Section 203, Row BB, Seats 11 and 12
Nokia Theater, 8pm
Dallas, TX

I'm in the Austin area and can meet up there or in Dallas the day of to exchange. Cash only please. Thanks guys and I can barely contain my excitement for the show!

I don't know if anyone else here was at the London show on Saturday, but it really was amazing. The setlist was just out of this world...I couldn't have been happier. The bad were on great form too, I hadn't seen them for three years and this really rekindled my enthusiasm for them. I don't kwno how they do it - every year they get older but the energy they put into the songs they wrote when they were 20 is still astonishing.

1. Living Well Is The Best Revenge
2. These Days
3. The Wake-Up Bomb
4. What's The Frequency, Kenneth?
5. Drive
6. Man-Sized Wreath
7. Disturbance At The Heron House
8. Ignoreland
9. Walk Unafraid
10. Hollow Man
11. Fall On Me
12. Electrolite
13. The Great Beyond
14. I’m Gonna Dj
15. Exhuming McCarthy
16. The One I Love
17. I’ve Been High
18. Let Me In

19. Horse To Water
20. Bad Day
21. Orange Crush
22. Imitation Of Life

23. Supernatural Superserious
24. Losing My Religion
25. Perfect Circle
26. Country Feedback
27. It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

setlist meme [20 Jun 2008|12:53pm]

I'm not sure if there has been a post like this, but I thought it would be neat to write out a 'dream' setlist.

What would be your ideal setlist if you could tell REM what to play? (25 song limit)

Here's mineCollapse )

MSG [20 Jun 2008|01:15am]

Hey, REM is on tour right now.

Few short and rambling comments about the NYC show!

Living Well is the Best Revenge
These Days
What's the Frequency, Kenneth?
Bad Day
Hollow Man
Man-Sized Wreath
Leaving New York
Disturbance at the Heron House
(Don't Go Back To) Rockville
Driver 8
One I Love
Until The Day is Done
Let Me In
Horse To Water
Pretty Persuasion
Orange Crush
I'm Gonna DJ
Supernatural Superserious
Losing My Religion
Begin The Begin
Fall On Me
Man on the Moon

Favorite of the night was "Man-Sized Wreath". Just such a fun song, and who can't love a song with the lyric "kick it out on the dance floor like you just don't care"? "Harborcoat" was a fave also, it was quite speedy and Michael didn't let that pass by unnoticed, heh. Kind of wish we had gotten a few more random treats, but was SO excited by "Heron House", obviously "Rockville" because any moment with Mike Mills in the spotlight is a good moment, grew to appreciate a few more Accelerate songs even more. "Orange Crush" was really cool and I love how on songs where Mills has a significant vocal contribution, the audience sings along with HIM and not Michael, hee. Michael sounded REALLY good, I was especially impressed with "Let Me In", which they did acoustic, really cool. Peter was there. I seriously barely watched him because he just blends into the background, but whatever, I did catch a jump kick or two. "Bad Day" was a lot of fun, "Kenneth" obviously as well, loved "Ignoreland". "Supernatural Superserious", when done live, does not feel like a new song at all, it feels like it's been in the live set forever and that's an awesome thing. Same goes for a few of those Accelerate tunes. Such love that album now. Doing an album breakdown is weird, they obviously played a lot of Accelerate but after that, the album that got the most play was Automatic, and then everything else was one or two songs, if that. They're very early 80s these days, which is fun and really kind of awesome that at almost/past 50 they're still giving that period some love. Though, you know, a little more late 80's, early 90's could never hurt.

Michael took some time to mention how the last time they were at MSG, it was one of the worst days of his life (being Election Day '04) and how he had real hopes for the coming years and that he was in a much better mood on this night. It was nice to have that acknowledged, being someone who was at that last show and I was glad for his optimism!

Great night!
